Now, in the 21st century, all inhabitable land is claimed. These lands were found and claimed by explorers and other people. One of these explorers was Christopher Columbus who brought into place positive and negative influences on the modern world. Such as:
·POSITIVE - His discovery allowed a period of expansion when the land in Europe was all spoken for. The restless element, including the religious radicals, went to the New World.
·NEGATIVE - He brought many previously unknown diseases to the Americas, causing thousands of deaths.
·POSITIVE - There were improvements in technology, including weapons and navigation and naval ships. There were also improvements in agriculture and food production.
·NEGATIVE - The people who once inhabited the land lost it. The Europeans who only recently came took over and claimed all of the land.
·POSITIVE - New foods were introduced on both sides of the Atlantic.
·NEGATIVE - His crew brought previously unknown diseases back to Europe.
·POSITIVE- All kinds of animals were brought back to Europe to be studied which allowed for scientific breakthroughs.
If Christopher Columbus wasn’t born and didn’t sail the ocean blue, the Americas and Europe would be greatly impacted. Not only would the colonization process be delayed, but the exchange of diseases would not have happened and many lives would have been saved.
